🌻Mission:
At Khala KaMwana Childcare Collective, we provide intentional, faith-based, developmentally conscious care that nurtures the whole child—mind, body, spirit, and soul. We create safe, joy-filled environments where children can remain children - free to explore their curiosity, express their identity, and grow in environments that are curated to help them thrive through their childhood.
🎯Vision:
We envision a world where every child is raised in community. This is to ensure that your children are surrounded by influences that align with your values and needs.
KMCC exists to rebuild the “village" model. We care about your child's needs, interests and development as much as you do. Our vision is to support the family unit, helping you to raise your children in the way that they should go. It is our vision to equip, empower and enable your kids to learn the skills they need to preserve their childhood wonder and thrive into adulthood.
🖤Values:
1. Child-Led Care
We honour every child’s pace, development, ability, cognition, voice and interests. We believe children have their own inner wisdom and we work with that to provide exceptional and personalised care. Children are little people with their own thoughts, feelings and experiences.

2. Cultural Grounding
We draw from diverse roots, methods, remedies, and traditions that help children feel seen, celebrated, and proud of where they come from.

3. Trauma-Informed Practice
We prioritise emotional intelligence, safety, consistency, gentle care and affirmative action in our care. Children deserve care that heals, not harms, as childhood trauma can create repercussions for your child well into their adulthood. Our goal is to protect your kids and give them the tools to navigate life's experiences, cope through them and thrive through them.

4. Community & Connection
We show up as caregivers, mentors, big sisters, teachers, friends and many more. We wear many hats so you don't have to — because childcare is not a solo act; it’s a shared responsibility.

5. Faith & Spiritual Formation
Inspired by the belief that children are a gift from God, raising them is the greatest responsibility. We draw from the teachings of Jesus Christ, making it a point to pray for your children, answer difficult but necessary questions about faith, life and all its unknowns.
We engage in practices that nurture gratitude, peace, kindness, resilience, confidence and identity.
This is never done forcefully or coercively, as we understand that faith is a personal experience. However, we know there are many influences playing a role in who your child is and who they grow into; we hope you'll consider the important role that faith plays in early childhood formation.
Khala KaMwana Childcare Collective
Khala Kamwana - meaning 'sit, stay, remain' (Khala) and 'a child' (Mwana) in my national tongue, Chichewa - draws on a gentle mission: to nurture the inner child.

As children begin to age into their teenage and adult years, their unique childlike joy, innocence and spark start to wane. Not through any fault of their own, however, as the demands of life, ageing, school, friendships and general development take root, children lose a little bit of their inner child. At Khala Kamwana Childcare Collective (KMCC), we believe that childhood shouldn't have an expiry date. We believe in care that goes beyond supervision. This means your child deserves to be seen, heard, loved and engaged with in safe and intentional environments that care for their entire being. KMCC encourages children to remain children, even as they age into the responsible and lovable individuals you are raising them to be.
KMCC is rooted in a cultural tradition that draws on the value of having a "village" - a community to help you and your child pause, rest, learn and be nurtured together!
The khala kamwana childcare collective offers a safe, imaginative, play-centred, emotionally secure and developmentally driven space where children are free to be - and to remain children. Here, the term "childish" is never negative. In fact, our goal is to foster and help children and families rediscover and embrace that childlike freedom we all had when we were children.

We are a faith-based, children-first, family-centred childcare initiative, serving families with a trauma-informed, psychologically sound, culturally conscious and developmentally supportive approach. Through play (of all kinds), affirming language, personalised learning tools, sensory activities and child-led exploration, our work centres children's emotional, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing - while also supporting the families who love them. KMCC is a holistic health childcare collective grounded in the belief that what Jesus Christ saw in the children in Matthew 19:14 still applies today:

"But He said, Leave the children alone! Allow the little ones to come to Me, and do not forbid or restrain or hinder them, for of such [as these] is the kingdom of heaven composed."

The kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are like your children - innocent, gentle, kind, humble, curious and whole. The Khala Kamwana Childcare Collective exists to preserve these God-given qualities in your children - today, tomorrow and always.

Thank you for trusting us with your children's lives, hopes, dreams, fears, interests, development and well-being. Welcome to your new village. We are happy to support you and your family through every phase, every moment, every day and every season. God bless you!

Meet The Founder - Sangwani Kaoloka
(But you and your child may call me Sangz or SK )🌻I’m the founder of the Khala KaMwana Childcare Collective (KMCC) — a faith-informed childcare service rooted in empathy, structure, and love for all children. My academic background is in Justice, Political Philosophy, and Law, but my calling lives at the intersection of childcare, mental health, community, and healing. Thus, I also have a background in early childhood education, and I have committed to the pursuit of the knowledge, wisdom and experience required to help me care for your kids to the best of my ability.
KMCC was born from a deep desire to offer children the kind of support I wish I had growing up, plus the support I did have growing up. This is the kind of support that sees who they are, not just what they do. A care model that gives them emotional tools, life skills, faith-informed values, and strong foundations before life overwhelms them. And if trauma is already part of their story, we help them process and grow through it with gentleness, not shame. Although KMCC is inspired by the teachings and compassion of Jesus Christ, I want to be clear: I do not push religious beliefs or practices on any family or child. Faith is offered only when invited. At the core of my care is respect for your child’s background, beliefs, and comfort level. Whether you're faith-based or not, your child will always be welcomed with love, patience, and acceptance.

🧠My Approach focuses on building:
Emotional intelligence
Healthy routines
Identity and resilience
Gentle discipline through connection, not fear
A sense of safety and self-worth

Whether your child is navigating big feelings, is wired differently, has sensitive behaviours, or simply needs more engagement than typical babysitting provides — they will be seen, supported, and gently guided. And while our name, Khala KaMwana, means “remain a child,” this doesn’t mean stunted growth or avoiding challenges. It means preserving the best parts of childhood — joy, curiosity, softness, safety — and giving children the tools to overcome the worst. These are the tools that carry them into the teenage years and beyond with confidence, clarity, and hope. Because when a child is raised in a nurturing, values-led environment — in collaboration with a caring village — they are more likely to arrive at adulthood resilient, whole, and emotionally well.

I’ve worked with children from various cultural, behavioural, and ability backgrounds — and I tailor care to meet each child where they are.
💛 Why KMCC Matters to Me:
This is more than work — it’s a calling. I’ve lived through trauma. I’ve seen what happens when children grow up without the right support systems. But I’ve also seen what healing, faith, and intentional care can do. I’ve seen how childhood experiences shape entire lives. At KMCC, I care for children the way I believe every child should be cared for — with compassion, structure, empathy, and joy. Whether they stay for a day, a month, or a year — they will leave feeling more confident, more understood, and more whole. This is not a guarantee, but a prayer from my lips to God's ears because He hears our prayers. It is my goal to love your children as Christ loves them - with no limits, with kindness, compassion and unconditionally. This does not mean we ignore difficulty, but we work through it with you and your family responsibly and with the utmost care. I value the village that played a role in making me the woman I am today. I hope you will allow the KMCC to be a part of your village.
